Individual Psychotherapy:
I provide individual psychotherapy services to adolescents and adults in a supportive, confidential, and collaborative environment. Using techniques proven to be effective, I will work with you develop a plan of action that not only provides relief now but gives you the tools to make changes that can last a lifetime. While I see clients dealing with a wide range of issues, I specialize in the following areas:
Everyone feels stressed or anxious from time to time. We live in a face-paced world, work daily to juggle numerous competing priorities, and are faced with many world events that raise questions about our security and safety. Despite our best efforts, we sometimes struggle to find peace and comfort in the midst of it all. If you find yourself worrying often, feeling stressed, tense, or panicky, or are held back by certain fears, psychotherapy can help you find relief. I am skilled in several different therapy styles, to include cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness, and employ the most recent therapeutic advances to best assist you.
Many of us suffer from occasional bouts of sleeplessness, especially during times of stress or illness. However, if you struggle to find sleep on a regular basis, continually feel the negative impact of a sleepless night on your daytime mood and activities, or worry about whether you will ever sleep “normal” again, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), offers hope for you. CBT-I is a brief but highly effective treatment for insomnia. Extensively researched, it combines our knowledge of the science of sleep and the most effective cognitive behavioral interventions to get you sleeping again!
Mindfulness is most simply defined as “the awareness of the present experience with acceptance,” and is particularly suited to help with anxiety and stress. Mindfulness helps alleviate stress and anxiety by helping people to stay in the present moment. Mindfulness also helps reduce anxiety by, paradoxically; enabling people become more aware of and tolerant of their anxiety. The regular use of mindfulness techniques has been shown in recent research to be powerfully effective in reducing anxiety.
